  1. Yikes on the NBC germ exposure story! Specifically this part-

“The security line — produced very different results. Tests of two bins used to collect shoes, bags and just about everything else dumped in for the X-ray machine
revealed the presence of dangerous bacteria. One bin yielded evidence of fecal matter at levels high enough to make people sick.

I guess I just don’t really think about how much crap goes into those bins. I wonder how often TSA cleans those things (if ever)??? This makes me even more paranoid for the next time I need to bring a bottle through security for my kid and they test it in their special machine. I bet that is full of bacteria too. No bueno

  2. Love reading your blog and have gleaned loads of helpful info and tips.
Question? Is it possible for us curvy, plus-sized gals to travel carry on for business travel?
I am 5′ 9″, wear a 2x dress and size 11 shoes. Naturally, what I pack takes up more room than most travelers.
Thank you for considering my question. Cheers!

  3. @LT great question! It is definitely possible to carry on for a week long trip. I also have big feet but always pack flats so they don’t take up much room. If you need to take bulkier shoes for any reason try to wear them on the plane. Also use packing cubes–they will compress so much stuff into a small container. I’ll do a more in depth post soon. Thanks for reading!!

  4. @LT I absolutely do it every time… Pack for a week in with only carry on luggage. Love it! I have become a ninja at the mix and match packing and usually choose a color scheme for the week. One week I use black as my base color, the next Browns and Khakis, and then Navy. Occasionally I will throw in Grey… but that mixes in with Black very well too. By sticking to a base color eveything you pack mixes and matches and limits the number of shoes to bring. I usually only pack one or two pairs and wear a third. Lastly Layers are your friend. In the summer time I love a good shrug, winter I go for the bulkier sweater/cardigan but only bring one maybe two if I wear one. I have also developed a new found passion for the elastic belt. Heed Road Warrioretts advice on the Pashmina–LIFE. CHANGING. on a chilly plane with neighbors who insist on their fans full blast. I feel the your plus sized pain but with a little planning a Carry-on is definitely doable
