Marriott introduces special pricing for Rewards members

MarriottI’ve always advocated for business  travelers to join travel rewards programs. Not only do you get points for every flight/rental/stay that you can then use for fun travel with your loved ones, but as you gain  status you get perks that make your travel experience better.

Marriott Rewards was  one of the first programs I joined when I started traveling for work over a decade ago, and now they have added one more way to reward guests for their loyalty. Last night they introduced Marriott Rewards Member Rates, a new rate exclusively designed for Marriott Rewards members who book  directly  with Marriott. It sounds like they are trying to make it more attractive to book on their site or app instead of Expedia or the like. In this vein, they also have their Best Rate Guarantee–if you find a lower rate than their site or app within 24 hours of booking a room they will give you the lower price as well as a 25% discount.

This new rate may not  matter to business travelers  who are not particularly price conscious, but for smaller businesses or those who  have to watch  their travel budget very closely, lower prices for good hotels are always a bonus! Not to mention Marriott Rewards members get free wifi when they book direct, which is not necessarily the  case with other hotel chains. With the constant devaluing of rewards it’s always nice to see a perk added to  a program instead of taken away.

Marriott Rewards Member Rates will  be  available starting April 11, and you can join for free on the Marriott website.

Readers, what makes you choose one hotel chain or  loyalty program  over another?
