In the poll last Friday, over half of respondents said they usually play, not work, during flights. I’m a teensy bit jealous, as I almost always have to work these days. However, there are a few times I get to have fun. As you (hopefully) know, streaming apps make it possible to watch TV and movies anywhere. Netflix, Hulu, Crackle, and Amazon Prime all offer streaming video, in addition to many network apps. In case you need some suggestions on how to spend your free travel time, here are the shows I’m currently watching.
Community. I’ve had a thing for Joel McHale since Talk Soup, so of course I had to watch Community. The interactions between the characters, the constant pop culture references, and the paintball episodes make this one a must watch. My favorite episode: the Law and Order one. Genius!
Parks and Rec. Amy Poehler is hilarious in this mockumentary about small town government. It’s warm, funny, genuine, and makes me happy to watch.
West Wing. TV Guide ranked this show #7 in its list of 60 Greatest Dramas of All Time. It is definitely one of my favorites. The writing is great, and I love so many of the actors. This is actually the only show we are watching right now that’s longer than 22 minutes, so it may work better in-flight than waiting on the ground.
Dance Academy. Don’t judge. This is a ridiculously fun show about teenagers at a dance high school in Australia. The accents are awesome, the dancing is fabulous, and the storylines are just fluffy enough. If you like Center Stage, you should definitely give this a shot.
We just finished How I Met Your Mother. While I wasn’t thrilled with the ending, the show is definitely still worth watching (especially the first three seasons). If I am in a long security line, sometimes I will watch clips from The Daily Show. Once we are done with The West Wing I’d like to watch House of Cards (people freak out about that show, so I’ve got to see what all the fuss is about).
