A few of my favorite things

a couple of glasses of champagneBetween various personal commitments, family issues, work frustrations, and lingering sadness about losing my beloved black lab earlier this summer, I’m having a hard day. In an effort to cheer myself up, I made a list of things that make me happy. Theoretically, I will look at this list and be reminded that things will get better. I’m not trying to get all raindrops on roses here, but if it works…… Here is a sampling of my “happy” list, in no particular order:
  1. My husband
  2. My other dog (a jack russell terrier-beagle mix named Jambi)
  3. My cute purse (not my travel purse) that was a birthday gift from a good friend
  4. Knowing that the dishes are done and dinner is in the crock pot
  5. A good glass of sparkling wine (Pictured: Two things that make me happy: Domain Carneros and my beautiful wedding photos)
  6. Knitting
  7. Reading
  8. Good friends
  9. So You Think You Can Dance (although I was pretty underwhelmed by the performance finale last night)
  10. Being home for a week when I thought I would be gone

So readers, help me out here. What would go on your “happy” list?

Comments

  1. My two cats – Porter and Chip

Encounters with nature in suburbia – for example, we have a pair of owls that fly around our housing complex each night hooting and looking for tasty noms

Wine (Pinot Noir to be more precise)

Maybe it falls under the category of “grateful”, but having a job in this economy sure helps me get out of bed every day.

A rousing cheer for #’s 1 and 8 on your list
p.s. I totally agree with you on the SYTYCD show last night!

  2. A lot of mine are the same as yours.
Husband, dogs, knitting, good friends, I would also add Kit-Kat candy, and a lot of opportunities to grow.

  3. My husband and knitting are high on my list, too. Also, my cats. Another big thing for me is singing in the car, having a good run, beautiful weather and Friday eve!

  4. That’s a lovely list. For me, I’d add watching the new brood of ducklings down at the canal (including the one who always finds something interesting to explore and has to play catch up), planning holidays, sitting in the garden on sunny days, good books, live music and reading blogs.

    Hope you soon feel better.
