A few years ago the Home Warrior and I went on vacation to Maui. We booked a fabulous hotel, and when we landed we were ready to relax and enjoy our time on the island. Unfortunately, it was not the idyllic getaway we had anticipated.
Our room, while lovely, was located right next to the elevator and vending machine area. Our neighbors were late-night partyers, and were in and out of their room all night—with the accompanying slamming door. And to cap it all off, our promised “view” turned out to be a distant mountain range, as long as we stood in the corner of our tiny balcony. From the rest of the room all we could see was the hotel parking lot and the enormous air conditioning unit of the hotel next door. Sigh. When we asked the front desk about changing our room they were polite but firm that nothing in our room class was available.
It made me realize how lucky I am to be a National Emerald Club member. I accumulate free rental days, don’t pay fees for a second driver, and can reserve cars with one click—but most importantly, I can choose any car in the Emerald Aisle! Imagine if I could have chosen any hotel room during my vacation in Maui. We would have had a much different experience!
In addition to the membership benefits listed above, Emerald Club members get to choose their own rewards, can drop off their rental and get an emailed receipt, and get special offers in the mail. Want to try it out for yourself? One lucky Road Warriorette reader will win one year of Executive status in National’s Emerald Club! Simply sign up for the Emerald Club and enter your number into the RaffleCopter tool below. If you’re already an Emerald Club member, don’t worry, you can enter too! The giveaway will run until Saturday, and the winner will be announced next week. Open to US residents only, 18 years and older.
Good luck!
