Whew! What a crazy couple of weeks. We have moved out of our old house, into a temporary house, and now are finally in our new house. While I feel like I’ll probably be unpacking for the rest of my natural life, we are so excited to finally be in our new home. Throw in a minor medical scare (everyone is okay, thank goodness!) and it was quite hectic. I promise I will be back to blogging regularly now!
After my post a few weeks ago about packing for a summer business trip, I got a question about packing for two weeks. I have actually done this before, a year and a half ago. While I brought too much on that particular trip, I now know the perfect amount of clothes to pack.
The generic list:
- 2 dresses
- 2 pairs of pants OR
- 1 pair of pants/1 skirt
- 1 pair of shorts/jeans
- Lighter-weight jacket
- 2 cardigans
- 2 casual tees/tank tops
- 2 nice tops
- Jewelry/belts/scarves
- 2 pairs of flats
- Flip flops/sneakers
This list is targeted for milder seasons. For fall or winter, you would likely need more pants and fewer dresses, plus boots and a heavy coat. With these items you have enough clothes for way more than 10 outfits. Here are all the individual items:
The outfits I put together here are for the transitional weather much of the country is having right now. There are many more combinations that can be made than what I have here, but this is a good start. I would probably bring additional earrings so I’m not wearing the same pair every day, but the pearl studs would go with everything. And of course, the turquoise bag goes with all of the outfits as well.
In addition to clothes, you may need more toiletries than normal. One suggestion a reader gave when I was planning my own trip was to fill up your travel bottles with shampoo, conditioner, lotion, etc, and use them until they run out. From there, you should be able to figure out how much you need for two weeks. My 3 oz bottles ended up holding enough for the entire two weeks, but I can’t wash my hair every day so the same may not be true for you.
Readers, do you ever have to travel for two weeks at a time? What are your best tips?

When traveling for a two week trip i take my small bottles but also know that depending on where I am staying I can also use those as well. I would be interested to see what you pack for 2 different countries with 2 different types of weather.
Great blog! I am also interested in any suggestions for a 2 week trip with 2 different climates. I have a business trip coming up in 2wks and will spend the 1st week in winter weather and the 2nd week in hot tropical weather. Thanks!
@ralea Thanks! That is one of the packing lists I’m working on right now. I hope to have it up soon!
this is great information and i struggle with packing correctly for my job..i travel a lot for work from 2 through 6 weeks at a time. However, I am trying to learn to only pack for two weeks. PLEASE HELP!
I workout 4-5 times a week, which makes my packing a little more difficult. Any advice will be very helpful.
