Not all business trips are done in the air! Lately I have been spending more and more time on the road in my car (or a rental). I love to drive so this isn’t a bad thing. But I still need a little help to make my driving business trips as efficient as possible. Here are three of my favorites.
Waze. I love Waze for a number of reasons. It’s a navigational app that gives accurate turn-by-turn directions, but of course there are plenty of great map apps. Waze is special because it basically crowdsources traffic conditions. Accidents will be shown on Waze up to half an hour before my Apple Maps will report them. Waze also gives directions to get your past traffic jams. It’s not perfect—it requires a ton of battery, so it’s best to use if you have a car charger.
SitOrSquat. On the road it’s inevitable that you’ll need a restroom. If you’re traveling somewhere unfamiliar, try the SitOrSquat restroom finder app. It provides ratings and reviews of restrooms nearest you, plus it allows you to bookmark a restroom that worked out previously for you.
GasBuddy. Gas prices are getting lower these days, but that shouldn’t stop you from shopping for the best price. I like to use the GasBuddy app to help me find the best price on gas based on location. It’s a great way to save money during driving business trips (and while home).
Readers, what are your favorite apps for driving business trips?

Waze is the best navigation app out there. I would just suggest first-time users to go into the settings and change some settings. For example, change to 2D instead of 3D because 3D might look confusing when you start using it. I’d also remove any unnecessary icons from the maps – other users, road goodies, etc. because they just clutter your map.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! How did I not know about Waze? Just used it today & fell in love. It did drain my battery big time but it was so helpful in avoiding traffic I don’t care.
