Jockey Skimmies review

I have long been a proponent of wearing shorts under skirts and dresses on travel days. It makes so much sense, alleviating9-3-14-Slipshort concerns about getting close and personal with the TSA, sudden gusts of wind, and accidentally flashing someone when putting your bag in the overhead bin. For years I just used a pair of yoga shorts (I called them bike shorts and was told since they are not shiny and don’t have padding that’s not what they are. Okeydokey) anytime I wore a dress. Then a year or two ago a reader on Corporette recommended the Jockey Skimmies Slipshort. I’ve wanted to try a pair ever since, so when the nice people at Jockey sent me two pairs to review I was very excited.

There are so many things I like about the Skimmies. They provide a solid layer beneath skirts and dresses that combats all the issues above, plus I didn’t have any chafing issues. And they offer multiple lengths. I also really like how they smooth all of your lines while still being comfortable, although they don’t give Spanx levels of control. There are all kinds of colors available–I saw navy, hot pink, cream, dark red, and brown just to name a few (I picked black). The middle length was my favorite–short enough to go under my mid length dresses while long enough to offer the coverage I want. The shorter version would be great for someone who likes to wear short skirts–alas, they hit me in a weird spot and kept rolling up.

There were a couple of things I wasn’t crazy about. First, when wearing them on travel days the legs would start to roll up if I had to run through the airport or go up a bunch of stairs. I think some rubber grips would fix that issue pretty easily. Second, when sitting for long periods I had to pull the waistband up pretty high so it wouldn’t cause muffin top. However, these issues were pretty minor. Overall I am very happy with them and wear a pair several times a week. In fact, I may need to invest in another pair (maybe hot pink??) so I don’t wear these pairs out.

They are available in many locations, including Amazon and Kohl’s, for around $20.

The Jockey Skimmies Slipshorts were sent to Road Warriorette free of charge for review, but the opinions stated are her own.
