I always bring my own shampoo, conditioner, face wash, soap, and lotion when I travel. Mostly this is because I am super picky about the products I use, the way they work, and the way they smell. However this has an added benefit. The more times I fill up my reusable bottles filled with product, the less I am using a fraction of a hotel toiletry and then throwing it away. Hotel toiletries use millions of plastic bottles every year, many of which get thrown away after a customer has used it just once or twice. Even if the toiletries you bring are not in reusable containers, the fact that you plan to use the entire bottle (and then hopefully recycle it at home when you’re done!) is saving waste.

If you end up using a hotel bottle of shampoo or lotion, try to take it with you so you can continue to use it. And if you need help finding good, reusable toiletry bottles don’t forget that my favorites are the Fill-ables from Aveda (not readily available online, but you can find them in Aveda salons). Remember, every little bit helps!
