Beauty Monday: Travel Mascara

Every week Road Warriorette features a beauty product that makes traveling easier. Do you have a favorite? Send it to RW @ RoadWarriorette.com.Tarte mascara

If I were only allowed to wear one type of makeup every day it would be mascara. I have relatively thick lashes, but they are short and blond. Without mascara I basically look asleep. With it, I look bright eyed and bushy tailed. It’s nice to look awake every day, but on travel days I need all the help I can get! Between 18-hour days and 5am flights, mascara is the most important tool in my makeup toolbox.

Not just any mascara will do. It has to be the right mascara. I need help darkening and lengthening my stubby blond lashes; it needs to stay in place all day and then some; and it needs to be gentle on tired eyes. The best mascara for travel that I have ever used is Tarte’s Lights Camera Lashes. It fulfills all of my requirements, with the added bonus of containing no parabens or sulfates. This mascara goes on smoothly, and I can add extra coats without it clumping up. The best part: I can put it on at 4am, wear it all day, fall asleep without taking it off (it happens), and when I wake up the next morning it still hasn’t moved. Love it!! (There is also a waterproof version available.) Available for $25.

  1. I’m also a huge fan of Tarte’s Lights Camera Lashes (waterproof kind)! It’s tied for favorite with Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume, both of which I discovered through Glossybox.

  2. I fly every.single.week sometimes 4x per week. this never leaves my suitcase – Philosophy Miracle Worker anti-aging pads (works like clarifying lotion) doesn’t count as liquid.

Aveda Stress-fix roll-on and Smashbox “Be Legendary” lip gloss in sugar cane never leave my briefcase.

Finally, DO NOT leave home without some brand of individually wrapped anti-bacterial wipes for use on airplanes, hotels, etc.
