Book, show, movie recommendations for travel

a book cover of a woman wearing sunglassesOne of the great things about travel is the occasional downtime. Occasionally I’ll have a break of a couple of hours, ad if there is no dishes, laundry, or grocery shopping to do, then I can enjoy some entertainment! Here are some book, TV, and movie recommendations for things I’ve read or watched in the last month.

Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan. Maybe I’m the last person in the world to read this? Regardless, I really enjoyed it. A super fun sneak peak into the lives of the ultra-wealthy Singapore set. I loved the descriptions of the geography, the food, and (let’s be real) the clothes, plus of course the crazy antics of the billionaires. I haven’t seen the movie yet, and I’m very interested to see how this world was translated into the big screen! Looking forward to reading the next two books in the trilogy—China Rich Girlfriend and Rich People Problems.

The Last Black Unicorn by Tiffany Haddish. This memoir was at turns hilarious and heartbreaking, and I loved it. By the time I finished it I felt like I had made a new friend! She is relatable and so fun, and I can’t wait to see what she does in the future.

Person of Interest. If you like suspenseful procedurals than you MUST WATCH this show. But to be honest, calling it a procedural is not quite true. It’s about surveillance and helping people and the question of what happens when there are machines doing the thinking. I’m partway through season 4 and I LOVE IT.

A few random movies I watched: Ant-Man and the Wasp (liked a lot), The A-Team (totally fine), Ready Player One (totally fine), Ocean’s 8 (loved it), and Pitch Perfect 3 (ridiculous but super fun if you enjoy the series).

Stuff I’m excited to read/watch soon:

Readers, I’ve got more travel coming up! Any suggestions for books to read or shows to watch?
