Hey readers! Got a question or something you want to discuss this weekend? Here’s the perfect opportunity! Whether you want to share an interesting travel story, a packing tip, an etiquette tip, or anything else going on in the business travel world, comment here and we’ll have a discussion.
Travel tip of the week:
- Have a lot of clothes to pack but not a lot of space? Try using packing cubes. These things will squeeze down a ton of clothes into a small rectangle. I am constantly amazed at how much my Eagle Creek packing cubes compress so much stuff–I’ve gotten five days worth of clothes into one cube. They are helpful for keeping things organized as well.
Week in review:
- Seems like delays are becoming more and more common. Here are ways to prepare so they’re not unbearable. Delayed is the new normal.
- Last week Ryanair said it was going to have seats for less than $15 each way for flights to the US. Now they say it was a miscommunication. What gives? Also, a suggestion for dealing with a nosey passenger. Ryanair up to their old tricks.
- When you have a business trip scheduled, when should you tell your boss you’re pregnant? How far in advance of a trip should you tell your boss you’re pregnant?
- I’ve seen some travel etiquette violations in my time, but this one was a doozy. Travel etiquette tip: PLEASE don’t spray perfume on planes!
Here are travel news stories that caught my eye this week:
- Great visa advice from @NYTimesTravel . Getting to the Front of the Visa Line.
- Pretty funny. Airline passenger uses laptop to catch seat neighbor reading his messages. via @FoxNewsTravel
- Air Canada is first? Really? Maybe I’m missing out. When It Comes Time to Fly, This Is the Airline Americans Prefer Most. via @themotleyfool
Comment of the week:
- This week I did a post with an etiquette tip about perfume on planes. @Wendy is our comment of the week and said “I’m always tempted to bring a surgical mask with me when I travel. I’m highly sensitive to perfume, cigarette smoke residue on a person and anything else with a strong smell (some laundry detergents and fabric softeners as well as candles and air fresheners). I get an instant migraine, nausea and asthma symptoms. I normally will breathe through fabric or even with my hand over my nose and mouth. I always have a 12 inch square of fleece fabric in my car to hold over my nose and mouth when I drive by a local refinery.”
Readers, chime in with what’s on your mind! I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
