Beauty Monday: Makeup primer

Every week Road Warriorette features a beauty tip or product that makes traveling easier. Do you have a favorite? Send it toRoadWarriorette @ 6-1-14gmail.com.

June is here, and temperatures across the country are soaring. It’s not always easy to look your best when it’s super hot outside, but one thing makes it almost impossible: humidity. How can you look professional if your makeup melts off your face in the thirty second walk from your car to the office door?

Makeup primer to the rescue! Already this year I’ve spent more than my share of time in humid climates, and the only thing that keeps my makeup in its place, on my face, is primer. They smooth your face, filling in lines and blurring imperfections, and give your makeup something to stick to. The most famous primer is the Smashbox Photo Finish—people seriously freak out about it. The L’Oreal Paris Lumi Magique primer is also rated highly but is a quarter of the price of the Smashbox version.

I am headed to Manila again this week, where the humidity seems off the charts. You better believe I packed my primer!

Readers, do you use makeup primer? What’s your favorite?

  1. I’ve used several with success, including Smashbox, Bare Minerals, and Laura Mercier. But for a good budget option, I’d recommend first trying the Monistat Anti-Chafing Gel. Less than $10 for a tube as opposed to $30+.
